PAIN is the indicator that something needs to CHANGE.

CHANGE is when something good is happening to us that we do not see right away, but should joyfully activate, anticipate, and wait to celebrate. Sound familiar? Sounds like when God first begin HIS work to change us doesn’t it. It was a painful experience,but as we look back and testify of it today, it was a wonderful one!

 We didn’t know what or how, but we knew something was chang-ing, happening within us. Did you ever ask yourself … Did the desire for CHANGE introduce the PAIN, or did the introduction of PAINcome to meet the need for CHANGE? What started the Spiritual metamorphosis?

I imagine this is something we probably never give much thought. We just go about happily embellishing the freedom we now ex-perience with our new life. Don’t celebrate this metamorphic celebration too soon, remember it was the “antidote of the Holy Ghost” that masterfully transformed us, therefore HE must be kept on board at all times, otherwise self will come to CHANGE us back, (reversemetamorphosis).

 This reverse CHANGE experience is even more PAINFUL, and there is no reward in this difference of CHANGE, So, be anxious for nothing. Allow CHANGE (Patience) to have her perfect work in our life, knowing that “In every thing we experience,there will be PAIN, and pain results in CHANGE. Slow Pain-good Change. No pain-No gain. [GROWING PAINS ARE SUPPOSED TO HURT.]

Render the enemy that comes to kill, steal and destroy powerless and harmless in every life …

Fashion every heart like YOURS, that YOUR fruit will abound in and through us .

Have YOUR perfect Way with all of us in Jesus’ Holy and Righteous Name.

Continue forgiving us and teaching us the POWER & GIFT in Forgiving others.

Help us to follow YOUR clear and meaningful Purpose.

Release all things into our hands as we commit fully to trusting only YOU.

Help us to cease being an accuser of the brethren, replacing it with YOUR abundant LOVE & UNDERSTANDING.

TAKE OUT OF US, ADD TO US, DO ANYTHING WITH US that YOU desire to the good of the Kingdom.

“Big Faith.”

There is nothing more certain on this Christian journey than our desperate need of one another, our responsibility

to be there to help “a brother/sister out”, to know that FAITH is the big stick [for our problems] and lastly, GOD planned it all this way.”

Being a Christian means joy, peace and contentment. But everyday ain’t gonna be a happy day. Christians experience problems,pain and suffering just as everyone else. However this is often worldly misconstrued because most think if you’re a Christian, you

don’t have problems. But know this, many Christians add even more pain to their suffering because of this very mindset.

I believe if we are here on earth for anything, it is to help each other through the tough times. Even If we can’t understand all that’shappening to our fellow Christians, its quite alright, we don’t have to know “why or what”, just “HOW” can we help. We merely needto extend our caring hearts and committed hands, share the Word, let them know to depend on Jesus, but while doing so, they cancertainly count on you to be there. Tell them to “grab hold” and believe that your Big Faith is enough to keep the both of you going until their Faith is strong enough, catches up and overtakes that problem that once chased them.

Good Morning …. “Jesus wants to meet us where we are…”

Just as HE met the Samaritan woman, HE will meet us too. Remember the story? When she traded her messes and miseries for HIS magnificent LOVE, healing, forgiveness and understanding at the well. How did her needs get met? How did she become a recipient of Jesus’ wonderful blessing? How did she go from being a loose woman, to being a loosed Evangelist? I wonder…especially since she

didn’t know she needed deliverance. Granted, she knew she needed something, she just didn’t know what it was.She had an encounter at the well with a man called Jesus. HE told her about her messes. She became pliable and transparent in HIShands and HE opened the door to her heart. HE revealed her deepest hidden (messes) and told her things she thought no one knew.

HE also revealed HIMSELF to her. They exchanged and quenched one another’s thirsts. She, exchanged her thirst for natural waterwith that of Spiritual water. She quickly realized all (6) of the relationships of her past could not heal her. In fact, she immediately sawthey were the cause of her mess/misery. She met Jesus face-to-face, one-on-one, connected with HIM and established a life-long re-lationship. Jesus also quenched HIS thirst because HE went out of HIS way to meet and save a soul who didn’t even know she was lost.

Jesus assures us that It doesn’t matter what our messes are, nor how long we have had them, HE wants to meet us at the well, make“the great thirst exchange” and never thirst again….

Is Faultfinding your shortcoming?

No one is without imperfection. We all have faults!! So, why are we sometimes so quick to criticize others for not fixing their faults and straighten their lives? If we recognize our own fault line(s), we wouldn’t be so quick to judge the imperfections in others.

The pre-occupation of finding fault in others is a full time experience and not a very good use of time. It objective is generally to keep us from looking closely at ourselves [and our junk]. We size up people by our own standard, but this attitude has such a distasteful element of pride and prevents us from seeing and appreciating what God is doing in others and in us. Sounds like “thinking more highly of oneself”would you not say? We need not be so self-serving that we fail to see the good in everyone else.

Good Morning, The difference between Drive and ride is the D - discipline!

The Faith Walk would never be, if we don’t learn to walk with blinders – holding God’s hand along the WAY.

Every morning we climb into our automobiles and take the drive to work. Its a simple, non-threatening and familiar trip. Why? Because we have

traveled it so often. We know the road, every twist, turn, signal light, curve, stop sign and pothole along the way. There’s nothing uncertain or unknown about the trip that normally deters reaching our destination. We could even possibly travel the road with blinders we know it so well.

On the other hand, consider if we were traveling to work in a direction not so familiar. Fear, nervousness, anxiety, distractions would challenge us. The fact that we know how to drive, how to use the stop sign, signal lights and take every curve isn’t enough most of the time. We need to knowwhere we’re going and have some semblance of intelligence of not just getting there, but arriving safely. Now this is a trip we couldn’t travel with blinders. Traveling a road like this [with blinders] is learning to “take the Faith Walk with God.”

Everyday of our lives we wear blinders thatsubject us to the trials that the potholes, deep curves, warning lights and undisciplined drivers bring to us. But we are Overcomers!! Whenwe bathe our battles In prayer, stretch out our hands to God in obedience, let HIM drive while we ride with the discipline that “We’ll go whereverHE’s ordering our steps to take us. We don’t have to know the way, just know that HE IS THE WAY. This is what the FAITH WALK looks like !

We have no idea how It blesses God when we trust HIM to hold our hands as we travel life’s journey with blinders.

Grace and peace to all. I want to encourage all to be in prayer for our church, our families, and our community. Members are grieving as all come to terms with loved ones who have gone home to glory over the last few days. We are all seeking God's peace through the grief journey; it comes by prayer. I Thes. reminds us to "pray without ceasing." So I asking that each of you would take time today to pray for all persons on the prayer list and those lifted up on Sunday during worship. Also, please send additional prayers for:

Children and Youth Rehearsal

Children and Youth Rehearsal for Choir and the Black History Program

Tomorrow, Saturday, February 11th12noon until 2pm

To all Parents,

The Children and Youth Ministry will Sponsor their Black History Program this Sunday, February 12th during Morning Worship Service and we have a lot planned for the kids.

Please bring your child(ren) to Rehearsal this Saturday, February 11th from 12noon until 2pm. All Children and Youth ages 3 years old and up are invited to come out on Saturday and rehearse for the program. We have something planned for ALL the Children and Youth. If your child is unable to attend rehearsal but will like to participate in the Sunday Program, let me know before Friday.

Because we have a lot to cover and under a time restraint.....parents, please do your best to get your child(ren) to rehearsal in a timely matter. We will start promptly at 12noon.

The attire for the kids on Sunday will be their green First Church T-shirt and denim bottoms. If your child do not have a First Church T-Shirt, any green or black shirt or t-shirt will be fine.

On Sunday, February 12th all Children and Youth participating in the Black History Program will need to be at church by 10:30am to allow us time to get the kids situated for the roles they are playing.

Fellowship, Food, Fun, and Music-January 21

I am pleased to invited you to join my family tomorrow night (January 21) at FUMC fellowship hall for an old fashioned bluegrass gospel evening of song, fellowship, and food. My brother and his wife will be in CS that day and wanted to share some time with my family and friends, so they asked me to put something together for this night.

Music will begin at 6:00 p.m., we'll break for a bite of supper, then resume music until around 9:00 p.m. Bring your instruments, voices, happy faces, children, and neighbors along. Casual, casual. Let's have some fun and praise God along the way!

1st UMC-CS welcomes The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Texas A&M to worship on Sunday, January 22, 2012@ 11am. With legacy building as their theme, gathering together to honor God and fellowship with one another will be a great blessing as the semester begins. Come and be a part of a great tradition this Sunday.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated (NPHC) is currently composed of nine (9) International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities. NPHC promotes interaction through forums, meetings and other mediums for the exchange of information and engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through various activities and functions.

Youth Ministry will have their Christmas Program on Sunday, December 18th

First Church Children and Youth Ministry will have their Christmas Program on Sunday, December 18th during 11:00am Sunday Morning Worship Service. The following is the schedule for rehearsals:

CALLING ALL (PRE) C-SCHOOLERS

The (pre) C-Schoolers will have 2 rehearsals. Both on Sundays, December 4th and December 11th at 10:00am until 10:50am. Carri Gooden will be Coordinating and distributing parts to the kids. Please make plans to bring your little ones to rehearsal so they can participate in the Christmas Performance.

CALLING ALL PRAISE DANCERS

For all 4th Grade girls and up. If your child is interested in Praise Dancing during the Christmas Program - Rehearsal is scheduled for this Sunday, December 4th immediately after Sunday Morning Worship Service. Practice will last for one hour. Jalisha Gooden will be Coordinating the Christmas Praise Dance routine.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH CHOIR

The Children and Youth Choir will switch Sundays for this month. The kids will sing on 3rd Sunday, December 18th during the Christmas Program. They will NOT sing on 2nd Sunday or 4th Sunday (Christmas Morning).

The Children and Youth Choir will have rehearsal on Saturday, December 17th at 10am until 12noon. The older youth will sing and act out the "12th Day of Christmas" (Christian Version). We will distribute parts and rehearse the song during choir rehearsal.

Thanks to all the parents who responded back to me last week informing me of your child's interest in participating in the Christmas Program. If you have not responded and would like for your child to participate, please do so as soon as possible so we can plan.

First Church Children and Youth Ministry is sponsoring the 2011 Christmas Food Drive. The goal is to fill the red barrel that is located in the church foyer. Everyone's participation is needed. Please bring your items and place them in the barrel starting now until December 4, 2011.

Items needed the most are: Beans (canned or dry), Canned meats (tuna, chicken, ham etc), Cereal, Cereal Bars, Diapers (baby), Canned Fruits, Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Peanut Butter, Canned Vegetables, Coffee, Chili, Rice, Pastas, Ravioli and Soups.

All items will go to the Brazos Valley Food Bank for needed families during the Christmas Holiday.
A list of the food items will also be available at the church for distribution.

I am inviting everyone to spend sometime with God to discover what your spiritual gifts are. The inventory of questions takes about 10-15 minutes to complete online (depending on which tool you select). Print a copy of your results prior to departing from any of the inventory locations.

Listed below are a few on-line options (select 1 tool to complete):

• www.umc.org - roll your mouse over the Our People tab and click on the Spiritual Gifts. Answer the 21 questions. When it summarizes your gifts, click "Printer Version" at the top of the page (the icon is very small)
• http://www.churchgrowth.org/analysis/intro.php - click on the free individual analysis. After you complete the questions, it will summarize and you can print it out for free. The site is selling other materials, I am not recommending that you purchase any items. We will have enough material to guide our study.
• http://hydeparkumc.org/connect/spiritual-gifts/spiritual-gifts-assessment-tool/ - complete the tool and print your results. Please do not email them because they will be sent to that UMC Pastor. I am suggesting that you may select this as an on-line tool that has a few more questions.

Select (1) tool to complete your inventory; then pray, complete it, and print a copy for your personal records. I hope that you will share your Gifts.

Our New Vision is on the horizon and we will want to embrace it. To start the journey, you are invited to discover your spiritual gifts and discern how God wants you to serve. Our two 3-week sections for Summer Bible Study series will help us learn together about what our gifts are and how to use them in our church and community. Juneteenth Celebration-George Bush Presidential Library

The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum invites the local community to participate in its Juneteenth celebration with storytelling by Clifton Fifer Jr., historical storyteller, Buffalo Soldier, musician and poet, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday (June 16). This is a Bush Library Education Department partnership with the Lincoln Recreation Center, Neal Recreation Center, the North Bryan Community Center, the Boys & Girls Club and the Brazos Valley African-American Museum.
